The Therese M. Gigante Foundation, Inc.

Faith, Hope, Charity

Therese M. Gigante passed away in November 2019 after a three-year battle with brain cancer. She was a devoted wife and mother of five children, and a cherished 35-year resident of Lindenhurst. Therese was known for her outgoing nature, her love of life, and her tremendous faith. Grateful for her blessings, she was actively involved in her community, dedicating her time to various causes that supported those in need.

Throughout her battle, Therese's faith never wavered. She believed that only God knows the true plan for our lives, and she embraced the philosophy of living life to its fullest without regrets. Rather than growing bitter due to her illness, Therese remained committed to kindness and mindfulness, understanding that everyone faces their own struggles. This unwavering optimism and genuine concern for others inspired the creation of the Therese M. Gigante Foundation.

Our Mission

The TMG Foundation aims to continue Therese's legacy of compassion and community service. We proudly offer a $1,000 annual scholarship to a deserving college-bound senior from Lindenhurst High School.

Beyond education, the foundation supports local food pantries, outreach organizations, and provides temporary relief to individuals in need. The foundation also supports Stony Brook Children's Hospital: Child Care Program through ongoing contributions.

The TMG Foundation is incorporated under Section 402 of the New York State Not-For-Profit Corporation Law and is a Certified Charitable Corporation.

Thank you for supporting our mission to honor Therese's memory and extend her spirit of generosity.

    Therese M. Gigante Foundation

To our Family and Friends,

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has generously donated their time and money to help grow the TMG Foundation. Those who knew Therese would understand how grateful and humbled she would be by the kindness and generosity shown by her family and friends.

The foundation was conceived shortly after Therese's passing in late 2019, when teachers from William Rall Elementary asked to create a scholarship in her name for a graduating senior from Lindenhurst Senior High School.  As her family worked to establish the foundation, we quickly realized that we wanted to extend our efforts to help others, just as Therese always did.  We believed that the foundation was an ideal way to carry on her name and her spirit of doing for others.

Thanks to your generosity, we've been able to make a significant impact in Therese's memory:

  • Food Pantry Donations: Food and financial donations made to provide Thanksgiving dinners for those in need
  • Support For Individuals: Numerous donations have been made to individuals facing severe injuries or illnesses, often through "Go Fund Me" campaigns.
  • Stony Brook University Children's Hospital: Child Life Program: Regular donations to Stony Brook University Children's Hospital to support sick children and their families who are battling disease and financial hardship
  • Widowed Not Alone: Contributions made in support of the young widows organization.
  • Grief Camp: Contributions made in support of children who have lost a parent
  • Senior ScholarshipsWe've awarded scholarships for Lindenhurst High School Graduating Classes of 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
  • Misc. Donations: We've supported various fundraisers dedicated to helping those in need.

We are grateful for the success of our past fundraisers in 2020 and 2022 and thank you all for making these achievements possible.

Upcoming Fundraiser

We are excited to announce our third fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, September 7th, 2024. With your support, we aim to continue our mission of helping those in need.

Planned Initiatives:

  • Stony Brook Children's Hospital: Child Life Program: Proceeds from the fundraiser's 50/50 Raffle, matched by the TMG Foundation, will go directly to SBU Children's Hospital.
    • The funds will be used for:
      • Purchasing food, toys, and supplies
      • Hosting special events, including birthday and holiday parties, weekly magic shows, therapy dog visits, and more
      • Providing transportation for family and other essential services to support the emotional and developmental needs of children during their hospital stays
  • Aid for Sick or Injured Individuals: We will continue to provide donations as needs arise throughout the year.
  • Local Food Pantry Support: We will continue contributing to local food pantries.
  • Holiday Season Family Adoption: One of our favorite traditions is "adopting" a family each holiday season to ensure that children experience the magic of the holidays.

The TMG Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organization incorporated under NYS law.  Be assured that 100% of the proceeds from your donations are used for charitable purposes.  No fees or compensation are ever taken, as the foundation is run strictly by volunteers.

Thank you for your continued support.

With gratitude,

The TMG Foundation Team
